Job Description:

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Farm Assistant to help with the daily operations of a mixed fruit and vegetable farm. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with onions, tomatoes, cabbages, mangoes, and orange (citrus) crops.

LOCATION: Kako-Waia Ward, Makueni County
START DATE: Immediately (ASAP)
SALARY: Ksh.8,000 to ksh.20,000/Monthly depending on experience
BENEFITS: Food and accommodation provided


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare land for planting by clearing debris, digging, and fertilizing soil.

  • Plant seeds and seedlings according to crop schedules.

  • Irrigate crops and monitor soil moisture levels.

  • Weed, prune, and manage pest control to maintain healthy crops.

  • Assist in the harvesting, sorting, and packing of farm produce.

  • Feed and care for farm animals, including cleaning animal shelters.

  • Operate and maintain farm equipment and tools safely.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of farm facilities.

  • Follow safety guidelines and farm protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Report any issues or abnormalities to farm supervisors promptly.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in farm work or agriculture is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Basic knowledge of farming techniques and machinery is an advantage.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.

  • Flexible working hours depending on farm needs and seasons.

  • May require lifting heavy loads and standing for extended periods.
